About the Libraries

The Sage Colleges Libraries serve Russell Sage College, the Sage College of Albany, Sage Graduate School and Sage After Work.   The libraries are open to the public however certain resources are restricted to the Sage community. Access to electronic resources is available in the libraries at workstations and via internet from remote locations by Sage users. Direct loan of library materials is limited to Sage-affiliated students, faculty, administrators, staff, retirees or alumni of The Sage Colleges, and to holders of valid library cards issued through the Capital District Library Council Direct Access Program (See your library for details.) An Interlibrary Loan service is also available if a Sage user needs something that we do not have in our collection.

The materials in each library support the programs and majors primarily located on that campus. The two libraries' combined holdings include over 200,000 volumes of books, nearly 500 print periodical subscriptions (with nearly 60,000 volumes of bound periodicals) and over 30,000 media items.  The library website provides access to over 50,000 ejournals and approximately 10,000 ebooks.

The Sage Albany Campus Library is located at 140 new Scotland Avenue, directly off the main entrance to the campus. The Library building’s North Wing was erected in 1907 concurrently with several of the other Campus buildings; the South Wing was added in 1965. The building was completely renovated in 2009, including the addition of a cybercafé.

On the Sage Troy Campus, The James Wheelock Clark Library is located at 45 Ferry Street, on the southeastern corner of Froman Mall. The main building was constructed in 1953. The space was doubled by an addition completed in 1966. Special collections include the noted Carol A. Donohue collection of the 20th century poetry in English.
