About the Sage Libraries

The Sage Libraries support the mission of the Sage Colleges, by providing access to research and information resources that are the foundations of scholarship, intellectual growth and artistic development.

The materials in the two libraries serve the programs and majors primarily located on each campus. The combined holdings of both libraries include more than 250,000 volumes of books, serials, and microforms; more than 12,000 media items; as well as access to more than 60,000 electronic periodicals and approximately 80,000 ebooks. In collaboration with faculty, librarians seek to maintain a well-rounded collection of authoritative materials that support departmental curriculum and reflect diverse cultures, schools of thought, and points of view.

Each of the libraries' two locations has work areas that facilitate both quiet study and group collaboration. The Albany campus library was completely renovated in 2009,integrating Hazel's Café, Academic Support Services , and a computer lab into the library. The Verschoor Room, located on the second floor, houses a comprehensive collection of art books, and is a popular space for quiet study.

The Troy campus library has a special collection of approximately 9,000 poetry books in the Donahue Poetry Collection, housed in the Hare Room on the first floor. Library reference desks on both campuses are staffed nearly 80 hours per week, providing timely research and technical assistance in-person and via phone, email, and instant message.

The libraries are open to the public. Certain resources are restricted to the Sage community. Information about Building Access and Computer Use for Public Patrons is available on our policies page.
