Sage Alumni are welcome at all times to the Sage Colleges Libraries on both campuses. In order to enter the library, alumni will need to sign the guest register at the front desk and present an Alumni Card. An Alumni Card is required for using our computers, for borrowing and for use of the library collection. Library staff members can assist with registration for an Alumni Card.
Hours of Access:
For up-to-date information about our library hours, see the Hours page.
During daytime hours, up to 5:00 pm, access to both libraries is open to alumni with an Alumni Card during scheduled library hours.
Alumni Access after 5:00 PM requires an additional step as the library doors lock at 5:00 pm every evening:
- Alumni who wish to use the library after 5:00 pm will need to call Public Safety (244-3167) to request entry to the building when they arrive on campus. It is recommended that alumni call before coming to campus to provide an estimated time of arrival.
- A Public Safety officer will meet alumni at the front door of the library after being called, and will need to see an Alumni Card before granting access to the building.
- Reference service is unavailable after 5:00pm. However, alumni are welcome to schedule with a librarian for day time reference assistance.
After presenting a current Alumni Card, alumni will be logged on to our computers as a “guest patron” by a library staff member. During high traffic times of the day (e.g. mid-day during the week) or the semester (e.g. mid-terms, finals), alumni may be refused access to the computers and will be asked to return to use library computers at a non-peak time. Please note: access to the campus Wi-Fi network using personal laptops is available only for current Sage students and employees. Alumni will not be able to access our Wi-Fi network.
Database Usage and Reference Assistance
On-campus: Alumni may use library computers on campus to access all of our databases, including electronic journals and e-books. Database reference assistance is available by appointment.
Off-campus: Alumni who register and receive an Alumni Card can request remote access to a limited number of databases. For more information and a list of databases available to alumni, please see our subject guide: Alumni Access to Library Databases.
Group Study Spaces
Group study spaces are reserved at all times for current Sage faculty, staff, and students.
The Sage Colleges grants borrowing privileges for our on-site collections to alumni who have graduated from the college. An Alumni Card is required for borrowing and library staff will request address verification prior to lending materials.
Additionally, if alumni reside in the region and have obtained a Capital District Library Council Direct Access Program card (DAP card) available through their local library, the Sage Library will accept the DAP card as identification for borrowing privileges.
The Sage Library is unable to supply interlibrary loan services to alumni, however, alumni are able to obtain this service from their local libraries.
Guests accompanying Alumni
Alums are welcome to bring family members and friends into the library, although friends and family members will not be able to use computers in the library. We ask that alumni bringing friends/family into the library respect the students studying in the library and keep their noise level to a minimum.
Friends of the Library
The library welcomes suggestions and comments from our alumni. Please contact the library with comments or suggestions. Additionally, donations to the Friends of the Library fund, which supports special library initiatives, are always welcome!
