About the Poet
Carol Durant is a poet, author, playwright and event host.
She is an actor and stage manager most recently with the
Black Theatre Troupe of Upstate New York. Carol has a M.A in
Africana Studies from University at Albany. Carol is the founder
and co-host of Stage & Stanza, a bimonthly poetry and theater
collaborative series sponsored by The Theatre Institute at Sage
and Opalka Gallery. The series highlights local and national
creatives in the fields of theater and poetry whose work has
meaningful elements to current events. Carol is also the
curator and host of Outliers Poetry Brunch, which is now an
online poetry brunch. Her newest books are Cold Pressed and
Just Brewed Poetry and How Will I Know It’s Santa. Her first
book, Whole Phat and Gluten Free Poetry published in 2017
was the 2018 Book Excellence Award winner in poetry.
